How Etsy fees work
Etsy takes its fees in several small pieces, each worked out on a different part of the order. Most sellers pay three on every sale: the listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee. Depending on where you live and how the buyer found you, there can also be a regulatory operating fee, Offsite Ads, currency conversion and VAT on the fees.
| Fee | Amount | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 per listing | Lasts 4 months. Charged again when it renews, and for each extra item sold in one order. Source |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price after discounts, shipping, gift wrap and personalization. Source |
| Payment processing | 3% + $0.25 in the US | Everything the buyer pays, including shipping and sales tax. Varies by country, see below. Source |
| Regulatory operating fee | 0.05% to 1.97% | Item, shipping and gift wrap, for sellers in 9 countries. New rates from 22 June 2026. Source |
| Offsite Ads | 15% or 12% | The order total, only for orders from an ad click. 12% once your shop has made $10,000 in 12 months. Never more than $100 per order. Source |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | The sale, when you list in a currency other than your bank account's. Source |
| Share & Save refund | 4% back | Orders that come through links you share yourself. 6.5% until 4 January 2027. Source |
| VAT or GST on fees | Local rate | Etsy's fees, for sellers in the UK, EU, Australia, Canada and many other countries. Giving Etsy a VAT ID stops it in most of them, but not in Ireland or Switzerland. Source |
| Texas sales tax on fees | 6.25% | 80% of the transaction fee, for sellers in Texas, since 1 October 2025. Source |
| Etsy Plus (optional) | $10.00 a month | A subscription with 15 listing credits and $5.00 of Etsy Ads credit a month. Not included in the calculator. Source |

Fees by shop country
Payment processing depends on where your bank account is, not where the buyer is. Australia, Canada and New Zealand charge more for orders from abroad; for a Canadian shop, orders from the US count as domestic. Etsy also charges a regulatory operating fee in some countries, and adds VAT or GST to its fees unless you have given Etsy a VAT ID. Etsy lists more countries than these, and also charges a regulatory operating fee in Hungary (1.97%) and Vietnam (1.24%). The calculator covers the countries above, where every rate could be checked. Etsy charges the listing fee and the Offsite Ads cap in US dollars. The calculator converts them, and fixed fees in other currencies, at the European Central Bank reference rates for 28 October 2026.
Sales tax and VAT
Etsy collects sales tax from buyers in the US and pays it to each state, so it never reaches you. It still counts toward the payment processing fee, which is charged on everything the buyer pays. Etsy also collects VAT on some orders to the UK, EU and Australia. If you are VAT registered and your prices include VAT, enter your rate under Tax: the calculator takes that VAT out of your profit, because Etsy's fees are charged on the full price. Questions
How much does Etsy take from a sale?
For a US seller, a $25 item with $5 shipping costs $3.30 in Etsy fees: $0.20 listing fee, $1.95 transaction fee (6.5% of $30) and $1.15 payment processing (3% of $30 plus $0.25). That is 11.0% of the $30 order. Offsite Ads, currency conversion and, in some countries, a regulatory operating fee and VAT on fees can add more.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee are both charged on the shipping you charge the buyer, and on gift wrap. Charging more for shipping does not avoid fees.
Does Etsy charge fees on sales tax?
If you sell from the US, the transaction fee and Offsite Ads fee are not charged on sales tax, but the payment processing fee is charged on the full amount the buyer pays, including sales tax Etsy collects. If you sell from anywhere else, fees are charged on your listing price, including any VAT you put in it.
What is the Offsite Ads fee?
When a buyer clicks one of Etsy's ads for your item on another site and buys from your shop within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order total. Shops that have made $10,000 or more in any 12-month period pay 12% and cannot opt out. The fee is never more than $100 per order.
How do I work out what price to charge?
Enter your costs and pick the margin you want in the panel. The calculator works backwards from all the fees, which are a percentage plus fixed amounts, to the item price that gives that margin. For the $25 example above with $12.50 of costs, a 30% margin needs a price of $16.41.
Do I pay the listing fee again when an item sells?
Each listing costs $0.20 and lasts 4 months. When an item sells and the listing renews for the next one, you pay $0.20 again, so a multi-quantity order costs $0.20 for each item. The calculator counts $0.20 for every item in the order.
What is Share & Save?
If a buyer reaches your shop through a link you shared and buys within 30 days, Etsy refunds 4% of the order total. For the holidays Etsy raised the refund to 6.5%, which cancels the transaction fee, until 4 January 2027.
