Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Your browser opens and signs the PDF on this device, and the document and your signature are never sent to Nookbyte or anyone else. The page downloads the free PDF libraries it needs after you open a file.

Is this a legally valid signature?

This tool adds a simple electronic signature: your drawn signature, typed name or signature image, placed on the page. It is not a certified or cryptographic digital signature. It does not prove who signed, and it does not lock the document against later changes. Whether a simple electronic signature is accepted depends on your country, the kind of document and the people you send it to. Some documents may need a handwritten signature, a witness, a notary or a certified digital signature. If you are not sure, ask whoever will receive the document.

How do I add my signature?

Choose Signature, then draw it with your mouse, finger or stylus, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo or scan of your signature. A white paper background in a photo is made transparent. Then drag the signature into place and drag a corner to resize it.

Can I add the date, initials and other text?

Yes. Date adds today's date in the format you choose, and you can edit it. Initials work like a signature. Text adds any short line of text, such as your name or job title. Text and dates use Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation.

Can I put my initials on every page?

Yes. Select the initials, then choose Put on every page. They are copied to the same spot on each page, and you can still move any copy on its own.

Can the signature be removed from the PDF?

The signature is drawn into the page itself, so it is not a separate layer that can be lifted off in one click, and it prints with the page. Anyone with PDF editing software can still change a PDF, which is why this is not a tamper-proof signature.

Does it change anything else in my PDF?

No. The pages, text, links and forms stay as they were. The tool only adds your signature and the other items you placed.

What if the PDF already has a digital signature?

Adding anything to a PDF changes the file, so an existing certified digital signature will show as changed or no longer valid. The tool warns you when a file has one.

Can I sign a password-protected PDF?

No. Open the PDF in a PDF reader, save a copy without the password or permissions, then sign that copy.

PDFs are shown with PDF.js (Apache 2.0 licence) and written with pdf-lib (MIT licence). Typed signatures use the Mr Dafoe and Sacramento fonts (SIL Open Font License): licence, licence.
