How to plan a meeting across time zones

    1. Add the cities of everyone who will join. Your own time zone is already there.
    2. Pick the date. The rows line up hour by hour, so you can read across to see the time in every place.
    3. Look for the orange bar: it marks the hours when everyone is inside working hours. Click an hour, or use the arrow keys, to choose it.
    4. Copy the link and send it. It opens the same places at the same moment.

How daylight saving time is handled

Every conversion uses the IANA time zone database in your browser, with the rules for the date you pick. On the day the clocks change, the planner has 23 or 25 hours, and a note says when the change happens. A time that the change skips moves forward to the time it becomes, and a time that happens twice uses the first one.

    City list credit

City names and their time zones come from GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0. The list has cities with 150,000 or more people, plus capitals and large regional capitals.

    Questions

Does it handle daylight saving time?

Yes, for any date. The converter uses the IANA time zone database built into your browser, so each place uses the rules in force on the day you pick. Clocks in the US, Europe and Australia change on different dates, and the result follows each one.

What happens on the day the clocks change?

The planner shows that day as it really is: 23 hours when the clocks go forward and 25 when they go back, with a note saying when the change happens. A time that is skipped, such as 2:30 in New York on the spring change, moves forward to the time it becomes. A time that happens twice uses the first one.

Can I share a meeting time?

Yes. Copy link saves the places, the date, the time and the clock format in the address. Anyone who opens it sees the same moment, shown in each place's local time.

    Which places can I add?

Any IANA time zone, such as Asia/Tokyo, about 4,600 cities, and common abbreviations like PST, CET or IST. If your town is not listed, search for the nearest large city or the country's time zone.

Why does it start with my time zone?

Your browser tells the page your time zone, and the page starts there. It is not sent anywhere.

    Is anything sent or stored?

No. Everything is worked out in your browser. The first time you search, the page downloads its list of cities.
